 It is a good idea to test your soil when you are starting out and every few years thereafter. Penn State soil tests are cheap but they do not cover all the minerals you need to grow the best crops, plus they do not give you recommendations for organic fertilizers. 
 
Groovy Greens uses Logan Labs who offer a comprehensive suite of tests for your soil including pH, Organic Matter, Cation Exchange Capacity, plus all the macro and micronutrients your plants need to maximize photosynthesis. Plus we will help you interpret the results and give you customized recommendations for which organic amendments and fertilizers to add to your soil.

    Recommendations for vegetable crops only.

    Watch this video on how to take your soil sample - it should be a representative sample of your garden soil not just the really good or bad areas (unless you are submitting more than one sample). 

    1 cup of soil is needed for each sample to be tested

    It should be put into two zip lock bags and labelled with the date and sample location.

    Groovy Greens will mail it to Logan Labs and provide you with the test results and recommendations via email.  We will also be happy to discuss any questions you may have too.

    We may also be able to provide a customized package of amendments and fertilizer depending on the size of your garden.
